For mobile specifically: ask about water and power. The good ones run completely self-contained. The cheap ones sometimes ask to use your spigot or outlet -- not a deal-breaker, but a sign of the operation.

The Honest Answer for Most Chicago Dogs

If your dog is easygoing, your schedule is flexible, and you have a salon you trust -- stay with the salon. The price-per-groom over a year is meaningful and a great salon groomer is one of the most valuable people in your dog's life.

If your dog is anxious, your schedule is unforgiving, or you live somewhere that makes salon trips a logistical headache -- try mobile once. The first appointment will tell you everything. Most people who switch to mobile don't go back.

Either way, the right answer for your dog isn't always the cheapest one. Whichever format you choose, the best move is finding a groomer you trust and sticking with them. Consistency matters more than salon vs. van.
