Parson's Chicken & Fish remains the patio legend it has always been, but the upgraded outdoor seating handles the dog overflow more gracefully than it used to.

On the coffee front, Same Day Cafe is still the morning-walk standby, but a few newer cafes along Milwaukee Avenue and Diversey have come online with dog-welcoming sidewalk seating worth knowing about. The taco trailers and small-format bars further west on Fullerton have added more permanent outdoor seating that's effectively dog-default.

Boulevard and Palmer Square Updates

• Premier Veterinary Group on Elston has expanded its after-hours emergency window, which is the kind of upgrade you don't appreciate until you need it at 9pm on a Sunday.

606 Trail Improvements

The western end of the 606 Trail, which terminates in Logan Square, has gotten a quiet round of upgrades over the last year. New landscaping at the Ridgeway and Kimball access points has cleaned up two of the busiest neighborhood entries, and trail-edge maintenance has trimmed back the overgrowth that crowded the path through last summer. For owners with high-energy dogs, the full Logan Square-to-Bucktown out-and-back remains the best long-walk loop on this side of the city -- about 90 minutes round trip of mostly shaded, mostly off-street trail.

What's Coming

A few things Logan Square dog owners are tracking for the rest of 2026: a possible dog-focused pop-up market series rumored for the fall along the boulevard, an expanded community event calendar at the square itself, and continued growth in the small-batch Chicago dog treat and supply makers selling at the Logan Square Farmers Market.
